Charles A. James, B.S., M.S. & C, Ph.D.
(September 27, 1935 – March 28, 2004)
Dr. James was a faculty member at Saint Louis University, John Cook School of Business since September 1970 and held the position of Professor of Finance, Emeritus. During the past 25 years, Dr. James also served as president and chief executive officer for James Clinic and Associates. Dr. James developed James Clinic from a one-site, two-physician practice into a clinic network with nine locations and 43 full-time physicians. Throughout his career, Dr. James was directly involved in and dedicated to the development of health delivery systems throughout the United States. His 30 years of experience includes university faculty member, business owner, consultant, prominent speaker and author of over 60 articles.
Dr. James was an inspiration to many, especially to those of us at North American. We continue Dr. James’ work in his honor. We miss him dearly – he was a wonderful father, friend and mentor.
Charles A. James, Jr., B.S., M.B.A.
President and CEO
Charles brings expertise in the area of claims reimbursement, office management, and information systems. Charles’ experience comes from having served as management information systems director of a group practice of 40 physicians, as well as office manager for a location with 15 physicians. Charles has been with North American since its inception and has been intensively involved with developing all aspects of its operations. Charles has a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA from Saint Louis University with an emphasis in information systems. He has studied at the International School of Business in Paris. Charles coordinates and implements rural health billing procedures, certification services, and provides oversight management services for medical practices.
Charles also developed and maintains the information systems at North American.
David S. James, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
David is a graduate of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri where he earned a degree in Business Administration emphasizing Finance. He has extensive experience in accounting and all financial aspects of medical practices. He has worked intensively on financial management of medical practices since 1993. He successfully completed the CPA examination in May of 2000. David is responsible for the preparation of client cost reports, financial projections, and North American’s internal accounting system.
Cris has worked in the claims billing field since 1989. Cris’ focus at North American is primarily on accounts receivable management and collection of aging claims. Her expertise includes primary and secondary claims filing and follow up for primary care physicians as well as anesthesia billing, data entry, payment posting and book keeping. She has experience working on several medical billing software packages including Tomas, Medi Soft, Medical Manager, MedSys and MicroMed. Her knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding brings added support to our existing comprehensive billing department.
